Posted on Leave a commentPosted in episodes

Casey Moran joins us this week as a special guest host. We start out with our check-in and talk about 24-hour news programs, intermittent fasting, and Joleen opens up about her desire to look into the 12 steps and finding a sobriety community. Joleen has to head out early, but Casey and Andy keep the podcast train a-going! Casey talks about the progress we’ve made as a podcast and shares his excitement for the next live show. Casey opens up about his depression and how he has had to come to terms with his mental health and remain active in vigilant. A very powerful quote from this episode: “I thought I could ‘man up’ and beat depression… But now I know I’m never going to overcome this, but I know I can still live a good life with it, and maybe my story can help other people, and that’s what I think I’m here for.” Andy and Casey talk about our purpose and talk about what it’s like to have invisible illnesses, like depression and chronic pain. We missed you Joleen! <3

Posted on Leave a commentPosted in episodes

Casey Moran is back and we are so glad to have him on the podcast again! In this episode, we talk a lot about depression and Casey’s current battle with his mental health. He talks about how he is just coming out of the longest bout of depression he has ever had and we talk about what that was like and how he is staying proactive with his health. He shares tools he uses to get him through his darkest days and talks about the power suicidal thoughts can have and how being open, vulnerable and honest is one of his greatest strengths. Casey also talks about his experiences with intermittent fasting and offers another perspective. We dive into the world of stand up comedy and gush about our admiration for Casey, and he says some delightful and sweet things about Andy and Joleen as well. It’s a mini love fest with great conversation. And if you love this episode you will absolutely love Casey’s podcast, Discussing Depression, so be sure to check it out!

Posted on Leave a commentPosted in Uncategorized

We are here today with the host of the Discussing Depression podcast. We talk about how depression affected being a sports broadcaster, and how sportscasting and journalism are lonely and competitive careers. We nerd out about stand-up comedy and the Minnesota Vikings! We hear how stand-up comedy helped save Casey’s life, the stigma around depression, the challenges he faced after his diagnosis and the battles and challenges with medications. We talk the importance of a strong support system and the cycles of depression. Casey shares his story of being both a patient and an employee at an in patient facility and how he feels this strong force and has an immense passion for helping others.

As we started wrapping up the episode, Casey reveals some details regarding a sex addiction and he shares a scary realization. We didn’t have time to follow up so we, unfortunately, will have to continue our discussion. So listen next week for part 2 to hear more about what Casey is dealing with.
