This is so bittersweet! We have enjoyed recording episodes of the Deal With It podcast oh so very much and we are sad to say goodbye. It comes with heavy hearts that we announce that this is officially the last episode. But what an amazing run it has been! We are so grateful for all the amazing listeners, guests and honest and open discussions about mental and physical health conditions we have shared over the last year and a half. We hope this podcast episode answers any questions you may have about our decision. We know it’s been a while since we have recorded and we wanted to fill everyone in. We are joined by comedian, improviser and podcaster Lynn Stein to promote her upcoming podcast Lady Friends, and to also talk about her journey with persistent depressive disorder, postpartum depression, and standup comedy. She has a unique perspective as she has her Masters in Clinical Psychology and we talk about what it was like to be on both sides of a therapy session. We talk about ageism and sexism in the entertainment industry and how it effects our personal lives and careers. Andy and Joleen share their hopes and thoughts on parenthood and get raw and vulnerable with Lynn. And we leave you with some of our comedy mantras.

Casey Moran joins us this week as a special guest host. We start out with our check-in and talk about 24-hour news programs, intermittent fasting, and Joleen opens up about her desire to look into the 12 steps and finding a sobriety community. Joleen has to head out early, but Casey and Andy keep the podcast train a-going! Casey talks about the progress we’ve made as a podcast and shares his excitement for the next live show. Casey opens up about his depression and how he has had to come to terms with his mental health and remain active in vigilant. A very powerful quote from this episode: “I thought I could ‘man up’ and beat depression… But now I know I’m never going to overcome this, but I know I can still live a good life with it, and maybe my story can help other people, and that’s what I think I’m here for.” Andy and Casey talk about our purpose and talk about what it’s like to have invisible illnesses, like depression and chronic pain. Writer, Comedian and podcast host Alex Shifman joins us to talk about Stealth Dyslexia, Cannabis and his love of facts! He shares many lovely and awesome facts about helpful drugs, and his experiences with them, answering our many questions and being open and honest. We get his dyslexia origin story and he talks about the unique challenges people with Stealth Dyslexia face, and the amazing ways we can adapt. We also talk to Alex about mushrooms, acid, molly, and their potential usage for helping people with anxiety, PTSD, and other mental health conditions. Andy talks through her recent experience with CBD oil and shares the symptoms she felt and the effect on her chronic pain and we talk about stigmas around drugs.
