Posted on Posted in episodes

We are joined by writer, editor, and wonderful human Allyson Byer. We talk being misdiagnosed with Narcolepsy and the intensity of working in the entertainment industry. Allyson shares about her sudden diagnosis of Hidradenitis Suppurativa, a rare skin disorder, and the effect it has had on her life and career. There is no known cause or cure and it’s very painful. Andy shares a story about a painful cyst and we talk about Vaginismus and painful sex and share our experiences. We talk about physical therapy for pelvic pain and how there are so many women who deal with this and feel that they are alone. We talk about the misconceptions and misinformation about sex. Andy tells a horrible gyno experience and we talk about our preference for women gynecologists and nurse practitioners. We talk about anxiety and depression and about the differences between passive and active suicide, something that Allyson is very passionate about. Andy talks about the wonders of catheters! We gush about our love for Allyson, she has encouraged us to be more open and she runs an awesome support group while also spreading awareness, breaking stigmas and creating a supportive community. “Oh by the way it’s not Narcolepsy, it’s just excessive daytime sleepiness. There’s no treatment.”

“Do you faint and stuff? Yeah sometimes!”

“I put my life on the internet.”

“I went to a physical therapist and I just cried, because my pain was validated.”

“What’s the 6th one for?”

“There’s finally a reason for dick pics!”

“Oh you want to have sex? There’s a wiener, put it in!”

“Alex, do you know what they do at the Gyno? I mean I know that they inspect it.”

“I grew up in the Midwest and didn’t know therapy was a thing until I moved to LA.”

“TSA: Do you have liquids? Yeah, I’m making liquids right now!”

“Has anyone else ever had a bag of pee strapped to their leg?”
